This is a multifaceted exploration of language, identity, and cultural heritage in the post-colonial world. At its core is a 2024 short film inspired by Serati Maseko's powerful essay of the same name. Maseko, a South African artist and 'artivist' raised across three continents, not only wrote the foundational piece but also stars in this visual interpretation. The film artfully contrasts Maseko's dual linguistic identities, delving into the complex interplay between her African heritage and colonial linguistic legacy.
